It is a non-governmental and non-profit social organization, well-established and prominent, serving as a change agent in the areas of women empowerment and community development in Sarlahi and other districts. With over 30 years of experience in community development and women's upliftment, the organization has played a crucial role in mobilizing communities for positive changes. This women-headed organization has a majority of female executive members. Key Responsibilities:

In close collaboration and consultation with the Project Coordinator, the individual in this role will be responsible for providing technical assistance to the education program, which encompasses Early Childcare and Development (ECCD) and Basic Education (BE). This assistance will be integrated with   Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), School Health and Nutrition (SHN),   Child Sensitive Livelihood (CSL) and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH). The key responsibilities include conducting technical training for teachers, School Management Committees, coordination & collaboration with local governments, motivating for effective management of ECCD and BE classrooms-based activities, onsite support to teachers, CMCs and PTAs, preparing regular reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual), documenting best practices, monitoring progress, building capacity among subordinates, and reporting within the assigned sector.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Education, or any other discipline with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the Education related project worked in NGO/INGO, and a master’s degree in education will be an advantage.

  • Having knowledge about the "Sponsorship Program" Process and approaches.

  • Able to Organize and facilitate training/orientation regarding educational-related contents in the field. 

  • Able to develop monthly plan, annual plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate education related activities.

  • Well, knowledge about the Nepal government education policy.

  • Can speak and write English and Nepali and able to prepare reports in both languages.

  • Aware and familiar with the local language.

  • Computer knowledge (word, excel, PowerPoint,) and strong in email internet.

  • Willing to spend 70% of the time in fieldwork and willing to work with children.

  • Having a valid driving license along with a personal bike / Scotter.

  • Able to coordinate with local-level government stakeholders and district-level government stakeholders along with Schools, Ward, WCRC, and health facilities, for effective technical support, coordination, and program Implementation.

  • Well respectful and committed to being a part of Child safeguarding and zero tolerance on fraud, bribery, and corruption.

  • Can adjust in the team and play the role of supportive.

  • Ability to work under pressure and within a tight timeframe.

The Environment and Natural Resources and Blue Economy Global Practice (ENB GP): The ENB GP has been established to deliver on the opportunities, benefits and outcomes offered by enhanced management of the environment and natural resources! One specific ENB GP responsibility is to support effective environmental risk management, and to ensure good environmental management across our work in part through the implementation of the Bank’s environmental policies and its Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).

The ENB GP in South Asia seeks to recruit a skilled Senior Environmental Specialist to provide environmental management support to Bank-financed projects and programs, and contribute to developing and supervising ENB lending and non-lending tasks, particularly in addressing environmental risk, biodiversity issues and environmental health. The position will report to the ENB Practice Manager for the South Asia Region (SAR).

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead or participate in policy dialogue; analytical and advisory services; lending project preparation and implementation in environment sector; and portfolio reviews with a focus on environmental risk management and biodiversity issues of substantial and high risk operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and advice to operational teams to strengthen project design and implementation performance, including leading and participating in identification missions; seeking and developing opportunities to integrate sound environmental management, including risk management, and policies in investment project operations; maintaining dialog with the client and enhancing their capacity for understanding and compliance with environmental policies.
  • Collaborate with WBG staff across regions and across sector boundaries and seeking opportunities for knowledge sharing. Disseminate and support dissemination of lessons learned and best practices from best practices Bank lending and non-lending for client engagement, knowledge sharing and learning purposes.
  • Contribute to a variety of written products and communications, including components of major reports (Briefs, Analytical Notes, Aide Memoires, Project Concept Notes, and Project Documents), as well as drafts other technical working papers for wider circulation.
  •  Collaborate with World Bank GPs and IFC/MIGA colleagues on joint projects as well as other colleagues from multilateral development institutions when supporting same projects, understanding and implementing a common approach when formally approved.
  • Provide environmental risk management support to Investment Project Financing, Program for Results and Development Policy Lending.
  • Provide direct support to implementing the client ESF capacity building in Nepal and in the use of Borrower Framework.
  •  Find opportunities to integrate/mainstream ESF and Environmental staffing and capacity building into Bank-financed operations.
  •  Coordinate and carry out other tasks as requested by the Manager, such as contributing to the organization of training or knowledge sharing events.

Selection Criteria

  • An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in environmental engineering, environmental science, biological sciences and related field is required.
  •  A minimum of 8 years relevant professional practical experience in the engineering or environmental management sector is required.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically, analyze and synthesize diverse qualitative and quantitative environmentally related data and information.
  •  Ability to follow up multiple work-streams simultaneously.
  • Track record of dealing effectively with external and internal clients. Strong client orientation with commitment to results on.
  •  Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, including project-affected parties, government officials, non-governmental organizations / civil society, as well as project investors and their staff.
  •  Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent inter-personal and team leadership skills and ability to easily interact with people of different backgrounds and seniority inside and outside the World Bank, including clients and partners.
  •  Experience working in developing countries.
  • Experience in the preparation of environmental safeguards/risk management documents of the lending projects of the WBG or other international organizations is beneficial but not required.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English is required. Knowledge of other languages will be an advantage.

Background

Saathi, a national level non-governmental organization committed to advance the rights of women and girls, works for the elimination of all forms of gender-based discrimination and violence. Guided by the social justice principle the organization is devising intersectional gender lens to address the gender diversity across all of its interventions. It adopts the gender transformative approach, engaging men and boys as allies for gender equality, close coordination with government entities for transformative policies, and contributing to the cross-movement bringing the diverse gender and sexual minorities in the mainstream development. Saathi extensively works to ensure safety security and empowerment of women and girls faced with sexual and gender-based violence, providing them with essential services. It strategizes advocacy for the gender responsive government policy and programs. Saathi also works to empower the local CSOs, providing them with technical skills, knowledge and the intersectional gender perspective and approaches in the delivery of the GBV essential services, assuring its quality. 

Under the overall guidance of the Executive Director, the Provincial Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of Saathi’s projects including providing technical, coordination, advisory and mentoring support to the implementation of these interventions in Sudurpaschim province. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the provincial coordinator is responsible for;

Programme Management and Coordination

  • Coordinate the implementation of Saathi’s programmes in Surdurpachim province and relevant municipalities, ensuring the interventions are aligned with Saathi’s vision, mission and objectives for violence free home and communities and equitable society. 
  • Lead the engagement with provincial and local level CSOs, building their capacities to deliver the essential services effectively and efficiently, assist them to update their policies, advocacy strategies and standard operating procedures for better prevention and response of the SGBV cases.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure that the project activities are right based, gender responsive and inclusive;
  • Participate in the formulation of the annual work plans, ensure application of result-based management and quality assurance procedures of the projects in the province. 
  • Actively contribute to the preparation of quarterly, annual and donors reports as required.
  • Form or mobilize community groups, train, sensitize and mobilize them for enhanced community role in prevention and response of the SGBV cases, and countering harmful traditional practices. 

Gender Inclusion Support at Provincial and Local Levels

  • Provide technical assistance to Safe house operators across different municipalities in the province to better manage the SGBV cases 
  • Strengthen the capacity of provincial and local level institutions and other relevant actors for the delivery of quality essential services and promote GEWE movement in addressing gender-based violence, social norms and harmful practices;
  • Ensure the quality of training activities through supervision and monitoring undertaken jointly by Saathi, government and local CSOs where feasible;
  • Provide technical and advisory support on GESI to local governments and other partners on appropriate approaches to strengthen gender inclusion from intersectional lens
  • Support advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts at provincial and local levels.
  • Engage with provincial and local level government units to advocate and support the development of gender responsive policy, plan and legislations 
  • Design and implement evidence-based policy advocacy for gender inclusion in provincial and local level development plans and budget;
  • Work closely with Saathi central level program management team to ensure coherence and coordination across Saathi’s different projects in different thematic areas at provincial and local level;
  • Review background documents including CEDAW COBs, UNFPA country strategy and develop briefs and presentations to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment at provincial and local level;
  • Represent Saathi in relevant technical and coordination forum and provide quality technical advice in the area of gender equality and the empowerment of women, prevention and response of sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Organize coordination meetings of provincial and local CSOs to ensure coherence and coordination among key actors at the provincial and local level

Support monitoring and evaluation of project interventions in the province

  • Monitor day to day implementation of work plan through consultations, field visits, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Provide logistic and coordination support in organizing monitoring visits of Saathi’s team from central office 
  • Identify and collect success stories and good practices on gender equality and women empowerment
  • Provide timely and quality substantive inputs into annual work plans and budgets, program strategies and activities;
  • Ensure timely and accurate tracking of data for the program teams, senior management and donor purposes;
  • Provide quality inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts related to project activities;
  • Maintain effective and cooperative relations with local and provincial stakeholders including government agencies. 
  • Draft quality of program documents, knowledge products, reports and submit them timely.
  • Adhere to Saathi’s core principles and rules

Qualification and experience 

  • Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Human Rights, International Development, Gender Studies, or related field with at least 5 years of experience in similar portfolio. 
  • Or Minimum 8 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree in the above mention faculties 
  • Experience in managing and implementing projects focused on gender equality, SGBV, and community development.
  • Proven track record in project coordination, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of gender mainstreaming, SGBV prevention, gender transformation and community engagement.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and networking skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali languages spoken and written
