About the job:
Mechanical Transport (MT) department British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) is a very busy dept supporting all the transport requirements of the Unit in Kathmandu in support of BGN outputs and missions in Nepal. BGN MT Drivers need to be highly skilled, focused, and agile to perform their duties up to the British standards in line with the demanding schedules of the dept, with perfection and high calibre.

This position is advertised at 40 hours per week in shift system.
Job description:
To keep the record of daily Driving Hours and not to exceed maximum daily driving and working hours in no circumstances.
To be familiar to drive heavy vehicle including Public Carrier Vehicle (PCV) and take responsibilities of load and passengers.
To ensure the safety of the passengers and the vehicle while parking outside of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) premises.
He is to be familiar with the Speed Limits, Road Traffic Accident (RTA)/Breakdown procedure and documentation
What you will be doing:
Responsibilities:
Responsible for end of month vehicle close down procedure (i.e. close work tickets, refuelling vehicles) and return the W/Ticket to detail clerk.
Responsible to fix all L1 jobs where possible and report to Detail Clerk/ Assistant Mechanical Transport Officer (AMTO)/Vehicle Mechanic (VM) if the vehicle is Non-Task worthy.
You will be an individual with energy, enthusiasm and experience who will relish the opportunity of working in BGN and thrive in a challenging environment. Security Guard is to follow the instruction given by the Line Manager adhere to Job Description for guidance and contribute diligently towards the team. Candidate should be able to work well in a team understanding the duty. You will have excellent written/ spoken English and Nepali language skills. Proven Driving experience and training is essential for this role to deliver the job responsibility effectively and efficiently with good sense of customer service. 3 years' experience with SLC/SEE education is preferred.

Salary 61,335.00 NPR per month (Permanent).

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal.

Selection process:
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in understanding their duties and be familiar with all relevant Health and Safety awareness. They will also have knowledge of equipment care. Should have communication skills in both English and Nepali, navigation skill, and a good sense of road safety awareness. Be physically fit and capable to undertake arduous work. Candidates must hold the driving license category A, B, F, G and ensure their experience and qualifications meet above written requirements.
There will be an assessment on language (English/Nepali) and physical test to assess the suitability of the candidates for the role. Candidates with High School degree (SLC minimum) and Security Qualification and Training are preferable. Having sound IT knowledge would be an advantage.
Candidates meeting the standard and job requirement will only be sifted for Written and Practical Test, followed by interview selection on MERIT basis.
Interviews for candidates successful at Sift will take place by the end of November 2023.
